Several methods are used for halogen determinations. All samples (2 to 5 mg) are combusted in "oxygen" flasks; the chloride, bromide and iodide are determined by titration with standardised mercuric nitrate.
This method is not suitable for mixed halogens. The Dionex Ion Chromatography Analyser is used routinely for F and S analysis. Due to certain interferences, Cl, Br and P can only be determined qualitatively.
