The internationally renowned Research School of Chemistry (RSC) at the ANU is responsible for offering both postgraduate and undergraduate courses in chemistry. The RSC is best known for its exemplary record in research particularly in the areas of synthetic chemistry and theoretical chemistry.
It has been responsible for producing some of Australia’s most impressive PhD graduates in chemistry over a long period of time. In a recent merger with the former Department of Chemistry at the ANU the new look RSC not only has a mandate for continued internationally recognised, outstanding research but also for delivering an exemplary undergraduate chemistry program. The new look RSC is uniquely positioned to deliver Australia’s only genuine research led teaching program in chemistry.
Students wishing to undertake undergraduate courses in chemistry at the ANU typically do this through the PhB(Honours), BSc(Advanced)(Honours) or BSc degree programs (or the BSc component of several combined degree programs and some named degrees in science e.g. BmedSci) and typically graduate with a Major in Chemistry. The RSC offers a single Major and a double Major in chemistry. (Note: Majors do not apply to the PhB or BMedSci programs). Click here to see the requirements.
First Year Chemistry assumes students have completed Year 11 and 12 Chemistry if you have not completed at least a Minor in the ACT or NSW HSC Chemistry then it is recommended that you complete the Chemistry Bridging Course prior to commencement.
