A series of lectures and laboratory exercises in analytical chemistry will be offered that are designed to further develop the laboratory skills learnt in Chemistry One and Chemistry Two. This course has a major emphasis on hands-on instrumentation and wet-chemistry skills designed to further develop students' skills in instrumental analysis. In particular this will focus on the use and understanding of atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy, flow injection analysis and various chromatographic techniques, as related to the analysis of environmentally important species.
