CHEM2204

Environmental chemistry has evolved from its beginnings as a description of chemical facts and principles relevant to processes occurring in the natural and human-impacted world, to an important scientific discipline in its own right. As a modern study, it embraces a broad range of interconnected approaches, ranging across the full spectrum of chemical science, from physical through analytical and organic chemistry and incorporates important elements of chemical processes occurring in living and once living organisms. It is a truly ‘multidisciplinary’ science, whose importance for human welfare on Earth has never been greater.
