The main requirement for entry to Honours is a credit average during the undergraduate degree. Some areas also require that a student complete certain subjects or courses during the undergraduate degree. Enrolment for Honours involves both applying for admission to the School/Department and, once you have been accepted, taking the formal step of enrolling with the University (if not an existing student). Students should consult with Professor Gottfried Otting about the application process.
Applications for 2010 ANU Honours Scholarships will open on the 11th of August and close on the 31st of October 2009. Students should apply on-line at https://apollo.anu.edu.au/apollo/default.asp?pid=4024. If you intend to commence your Honours in second semester 2009 you will need to apply in the above listed round. There is only one round of offers. Please note, you will also need to provide a 200-word statement describing the research, professional or scholarly interests which you would intend to pursue while an Honours Scholar at the ANU. You will need to submit this statement by email to ug.schols@anu.edu.au. Your application will be incomplete without it.
Students who completed their undergraduate degree at a different university will also need to complete the Undergraduate Application for Local Students or Undergraduate Application for International Students available at http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/forms/index.php.
Current ANU students need to complete the College of Physical Sciences Application for Current ANU Students for Admission to Honours Program form and submit it to the Chemistry Honours Coordinator Professor Gottfried Otting (Gottfried.Otting@anu.edu.au). The hardcopy application forms can be found at http://cps.anu.edu.au/Honours/.
Once accepted into the Honours program, students must enrol on the ISIS website in Chemistry IV Hons (CHEM4005) prior to the ANU course enrolment deadline (usually the 2nd Friday of each teaching period).
