Faiyaz completed his Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours) in 2015 at the ANU with first class Honours from work conducted under Prof. Martin Banwell. This short foray into the total synthesis of natural products prompted him to continue this line of research as part of a PhD program at the RSC within the same group. His research interests lie in advancing synthetic methodology by modernizing classic chemical processes and applying them to the synthesis of natural products. Currently he is investigating cross-electrophile couplings using palladium/copper systems
