Mr George Laffan

Bachelor of Science (Advanced)(Honours)

George Laffan graduated with 1st class Honours from his Bachelor of Science (Advanced)(Honours) (2015) supervised by Mark Humphrey. Inspired by his Honours research of designing linear pi-conjugated polymetallic systems for reversible electrochemical switching, and thereby generating diverse optical responses, he chose to continue his interests in spectroelectrochemistry by pursuing his PhD at the RSC with the same supervisor. He aims to synthesize novel bent organometallics incorporating meta-substituted electron-donating and -accepting functional groups to generate non-linear optically active smart surface materials and optoelectronic active macrocycles.
