Transition metal cluster chemistry

It is widely understood that certain transition metal centres can aggregate into complex cluster species with relative ease, but the general applicability of producing a series of a particular cluster size can be somewhat haphazard. Research into the reactivity of transition metal clusters could offer insight into their stability and lead to general methodologies toward their rational synthesis. Post-synthetic modification of clusters is also of interest to potentially tailor their properties as desired for specific applications.
