The purpose of this scholarship is to attract Australian and New Zealand students of high calibre to pursue postgraduate research within the Research School of Chemistry. The scholarship provides for payment of a supplementary stipend to an outstanding holder of an APA or ANU Chemistry PhD Scholarship or other stipend allowance scholarship for the duration of that scholarship. Eligible program is a PhD. Maximum duration is three years full-time, with a possible six month extension. Requirements: Bachelors degree with first-class honours, or a research Masters degree from a recognised university; Australian and New Zealand citizens; Permanent residents of Australia. |

| Chemistry MPhil Scholarships $22,500 Closing Date for Applications: 31/10 (31/08 for international students) |
Australian National University Master degree by research scholarships are available for full-time study in the Graduate Program of Chemistry. Scholarships are offered initially for one year but may, subject to satisfactory progress and in accordance with the prescription of the particular study program concerned, be extended for up to a total of two years. Other benefits include: scholars from interstate are eligible for assistance with University accommodation and are eligible for an establishment allowance; married scholars from overseas may be eligible for an additional allowance for dependent children. Requirements: Applicants must be of a high scholastic calibre; they should hold, or expect to hold, a bachelor degree with at least upper second class honours or equivalent from a recognised university, and have shown a capacity for research. In special cases, applicants with other qualifications and research or other experience of a high order may be considered. |

| Chemistry PhD Scholarships $22,500 Closing Date for Applications: 31/10 (31/08 for international students) |
Applications are invited for PhD Research Scholarships in the fields of Physical, Theoretical, Biological, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry. Other benefits include a $1,000 relocation incentive paid to all students moving from an interstate or New Zealand university to the ACT. For the duration of the scholarship students will receive support to attend national conferences and will be strongly encouraged and supported to attend one international conference. Students recruited in Australia are eligible for an establishment allowance. Outstanding Australian and New Zealand students may also apply for an Alan Sargeson Merit Supplementary Scholarship, valued at $5,000 pa, and for a Chemistry Supplementary Scholarship valued at $3,000 pa. Requirements: Applicants should be of a high scholastic calibre and should have a capacity for research. They should hold, or expect to hold, a degree of bachelor with at least upper second class honours, or a degree of master, from a recognised university. In special cases, applicants with other qualifications and/or research experience may be considered. |

| Chemistry: Rod Rickards PhD Scholarship in Organic and Biological Chemistry $37,500 Closing Date for Applications: 31/10 |
Professor Rod Rickards FAA was one of the founding members of the Research School of Chemistry (RSC) at the Australian National University (ANU). This scholarship, which honours his memory and which has been established through the generous support of his family, will provide a high-end stipend for a PhD candidate undertaking research in the areas of organic or biological chemistry. The successful applicant will be based at RSC and work under the supervision of one of the academic staff in the Organic or Biological Chemistry Sections of the School. The scholarship, which is the most prestigious available within RSC, is for three years and carries a tax-free stipend of $37,500p.a. It is available to citizens and permanent residents of Australia, and to citizens of New Zealand. RSC provides generous travel and other allowances, as well as support for attendance at both national and international chemistry conferences. Requirements: Applicants must have a recent First-Class Honours degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry. Significant experience in organic or biological chemistry would be highly desirable. Successful applicants will be trained in a wide range of chemical and/or biological techniques. |

Each year the University offers up to one scholarship each for nationals of Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. Eligible Program is PhD. Requirements: International students who are nationals of Japan, Malaysia, Thailand or Singapore. |

| ANU PhD Mid-Year Entry Scholarships $22,860 Closing Date for Applications: 31/10 |
A small number of ANU PhD Scholarships which provide a stipend are funded by Colleges which may be available through mid-year entry or at other times of the year. It is normal for recipients to undertake study on a full-time basis. However, in accordance with strict criteria, the scholarship may be awarded for part-time study. International scholars must undertake study on a full-time basis. It is expected that the scholarship normally will be taken up by 31 August in the year for which it is awarded, although, subject to the approval of the prospective supervisor, Head of Department and Dean/Director, a later start date may be possible. The date by which a scholarship must be taken up in a particular instance will be made clear in the formal letter of offer for the scholarship. Scholarships are available for mid-year entry or at other times of the year; three years full-time with a possible six month extension; available to Australian and New Zealand citizens, and permanent residents of Australia. A number of ANU Tuition Scholarships are funded and awarded by individual Colleges and determined as part of the application process. This scholarship covers international student tuition fees. Eligible Program is PhD. Maximum duration is three years full-time, with two possible six month extensions. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters. Bushfire CRC postgraduate scholarships are available for students pursuing research higher degrees in the bushfire research fields, in line with Bushfire CRC projects. The Graduate Research School each year normally offers one scholarship to an indigenous Australian to undertake graduate study; three years full-time with a possible extension; applications are only open to Indigenous Australians. Eligible programs include PhD, Professional Doctorate by Research, MPhil, Professional Doctorate by Coursework (and also Master by Coursework and Research, Master by Coursework, Graduate Diploma). Maximum duration three years full-time, with a possible extension (PhD). Requirements: Australian citizens; Permanent residents of Australia. Applications are only open to Indigenous Australians. |

| International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) Tuition fee - 3 years Closing Date for Applications: 31/08/2012 |
The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) are available for study leading to the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy or to a Master of Philosophy and are funded by the Commonwealth Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR). Because competition for the scholarships is intense, at ANU they are not awarded for study at the Master degree level. Successful applicants will study in areas in which the University has shown a particular research concentration.
Requirements: Eligibile programs include PhD or professional Doctorate by research. Applicants must be international students who can demonstrate a bachelors degree with first-class honours, or a research Masters degree from a recognised university. |

| Re-entry scholarships for Graduate Research $22,500 Closing Date for Applications: 31/10 |
The University offers each year a small number (usually only one) of Re-entry Scholarships for graduates who wish to resume academic studies after a break of at least three years since formal enrolment in a university program, the break normally being due to fulfillment of family obligations. Eligible programs include PhD, Professional Doctorate by Research, MPhil. Maximum duration for PhD or Professional Doctorate three years with a possible six-month extension; for MPhil one year with a possible extension of up to a further twelve months. Requirements: Bachelors degree with at least upper second-class honours, or a Masters degree with a research component or equivalent; Australian and New Zealand citizens; Permanent residents of Australia. |
