More recent achievements include (i) the synthesis of the first structurally authenticated example of a hexadentate chelating phosphine, viz. (RP*,RP*,RP*)-CH3C(CH2PPhC6H4NH2-2)3, in which all six donors are bound to a single cobalt(III) centre; (ii) the preparation of the first optically active Birch reduced tertiary phosphine, viz. (S)-(cyclohexadien-2,5-yl)(3-pentyl)phenylphosphine; (iii) the synthesis of the first examples of azaphosphol-2-ones and bis(azaphosphol-2-ones); and (iv) the synthesis of the first naturally occurring polyarsenic compound, Arsenicin A, and the determination of its structure by X-ray analysis (with Professor Bruce Wild).
