The discovery of new antibiotics from cultured microorganisms was the foundation for the antibiotic era and continues to yield novel molecular architectures. Utilising a fermentation based strategy we discover new chemical structures from a collection of entomogenous and marine derived fungi maintained in our culture collection. In addition we have recently commenced an ethnomycological study to describe the chemistry involved in traditional medicines used by highland tribes of Papua New Guinea.
