Inspired by the chemistry produced within the natural systems we study, synthetic approaches toward the construction of selected target molecules are developed.  We have recently completed a versatile synthesis of a series of wasp pheromones which has allowed us to probe the ecological relationships with orchids. Other studies have allowed the synthesis of antibiotics that we have identified through our bioprospecting studies and allowed the identification of further naturally occurring compounds.
