Application Forms

There is a single application form for admission to graduate programs, University scholarships, Australian Postgraduate Awards, International Postgraduate Research Scholarships, and Alan Sargeson Merit Scholarships.

Applications will not be considered as complete without:

• 3 referee reports,

• Official academic transcripts/certificates,

• Resume/CV,

• 3 referee reports,

• 1 page research proposal, and

• For international students, an IELTS/TOEFL English language proficiency result.

Please do not send/upload your Honours/Master thesis.


Online Applications

We prefer to receive online applications, as they can be processed faster than paper applications, and are less expensive for students. Apply online via the following link: http://students.anu.edu.au/apply_online.asp

To apply to study for a PhD or MPhil:
Step 1. In the first box enter the word ‘chemistry'.
Step 2. Under ‘Academic Group' select ‘Research School of Chemistry'.
Step 3. Under ‘Academic Career' select ‘Research'.
Step 4. Under ‘Award Type' select ‘All'.

To apply to study for a Grad Dip, Grad Cert, or Master of Chemistry(coursework):
Step 1. In the first box enter the word ‘chemistry'.
Step 2. Under ‘Academic Group' select ‘Faculty of Science'.
Step 3. Under ‘Academic Career' select ‘All'.
Step 4. Under ‘Award Type' select ‘All'.

An application fee of A$75 is payable by international students when the on-line application is lodged.


Paper Applications

There is a single application form for admission to graduate programs, University scholarships, Australian Postgraduate Awards, International Postgraduate Research Scholarships, and Alan Sargeson Merit Scholarships.

Australian and New Zealand residents should complete the Local Postgraduate Research Program and/or Scholarship Application and international students should complete the International Postgraduate Research Program and/or Scholarship Application.
