Ayana did her Bachelor of Technology in Polymer Engineering from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India and Master of Technology in Materials Science from Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur. Post her master’s thesis on biodegradable polymers, she joined Dr.Shaijumon’s group at IISER–Thiruvananthapuram, India, as a Junior Research Fellow for her short stint of research in silicon/graphene hybrid anodes for lithium ion batteries and conducting polymers. Ayana joined Luke Connal’s research group for her PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Melbourne in 2015. She moved along with the Connal Group to continue her graduate research in artificial enzymes at the Research School of Chemistry in ANU.
Research interests: artificial enzymes, biomimetic catalysis, enzyme kinetics, enzyme mimic polymers, polymerization techniques, organic synthesis.
