Mr Keshav Gupta

Bachelor of Pharmacy (High Distinction) Master of Science (Pharmacy) (High Distinction)
PhD Candidate

Keshav completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy (2012) from Manipal University, Manipal, India and Master of Science (Pharmacy) in Medicinal Chemistry (2014) from National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad, India. He graduated both the degrees with high distinction. As part of his Master’s programme, he did his thesis on the topic “Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Indole Linked Aminopyrimidine Derivatives as Potential Protein Tyrosine kinase Inhibitors”, under the guidance of Dr. B. Nagendra Babu, Assoc. Prof. at NIPER. The underlying principle of the project work was to study structural and physiological aspects of Indole and Pyrimidine responsible for anticancer activity. Inspired by this and thoroughly supported by Assoc. Prof. Malcolm McLeod, in 2015 Keshav joined as PhD student to further his interests in medicinal chemistry and enhance his skill sets in organic, analytical and computational chemistry. His current focus involves design of specific modulators for α4-α4 binding site in the treatment of nicotine addiction and ADHD as well as other neurodegenerative disorders.
