There is a pressing need for better synthetic methods to prepare structurally complex organic compounds, since they serve as the majority of our medicines and other materials. “Better” means fewer chemical reactions, hence more environmentally benign processes. This project will involve the chemical synthesis of important organic molecules and will develop skills in cutting edge experimental methods.
