Lead-free ferro/piezo-electric materials and films for sensor applications

This work targets the development of high performance sensor platform for the detection and monitoring of viral, bacterial, bio-environmental and chemical threats. In this project, the wet chemical synthesis (such as Sol-Gel and hydrothermal reaction techniques) routes will be explored to prepare a large batch of high performance piezoelectric materials in the form of bulk, thin/thick films or composites. In conjunction with systematic structural design and optimisation of piezoelectric devices, the project aims to provide an on-site and fast detection technique for biosensor and chemical sensor applications.
