Sugar coated plastic nanoparticles for nanomedicine »
Nanoparticles are widely proposed as a way to improve the treatment of cancer to reduce known side effects by packaging the drug into nanoparticles. Nanoparticles can be made from various materials including metals, empty viruses and polymers. Among them, polymers offer the greatest flexibility as they can be processed into different shapes with different softness. Interestingly, nature’s own highly successful nano-objects, viruses, have often elongated structures. Using the latest advancement in polymer synthesis, we design nanoparticles that resemble natural nanoparticles.
