The placenta as a witness to stillbirth  »

The loss of a baby due to stillbirth remains a sad reality for many families and can take a serious toll on the family’s health and wellbeing.  In 2015 it was estimated that 2·6 million babies were stillborn.  90% of injuries to a baby happen before labour and hospital admission, are either utero-placental or placenta-fetal with the common element being the placenta.

The Research School of Chemistry has been housed in the new research building, Building #137, since late 2013, however some of the physical and materials chemistry labs have remained in the Old Birch Building #35. The end of an era has arrived with the remaining labs moving over to Building #137. Please join us as we hold a special Bramley's in the foyer to say a final goodbye to Building #35. Drinks and light refreshments provided.

Chemistry-based Careers in the Public Service »

Dr Walker will provide an overview of how expertise in chemistry is used to assess and manage the environmental impacts of industrial chemicals and pesticides on a national and international scale. The presentation will include a description of projects currently underway in the Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy. Opportunities for graduates with a background in chemistry to pursue rewarding careers in the public service will also be discussed.

Join us for the first RSC Social Club BBQ Celebration being held at Black Mountain Peninsula park. All members of the RSC are welcome, not just families! What will be provided? The RSC Social Club will provide a sausage sizzle, soft drinks, cupcakes and children's entertainment. Alcoholic drinks will not be provided. What should I bring? Genetic code reprogramming for drug discovery and protein analysis »

The combination of genetic code reprogramming and mRNA display is a powerful approach for the identification of macrocyclic peptides with high affinities to a target of interest. Synthesis of very high diversity focused libraries (> 10(12) compounds) and affinity screening delineates structure activity relationships and sets the stage for the development of more potent and selective inhibitors.
